Captcha's, Captcha's everywhere

We’ve all heard of or used a captcha at one point in our lives. Whether it be signing up for an event online or simply subscribing to a blog, we’ve all had to deal with these little annoying bits of text and struggling for hours, asking ourselves is that an i or l, swapping from uppercase to lowercase and turning our heads on weird angles to just try to make out what the character is only to get it wrong.

Now don’t get me wrong I have nothing against captchas, in fact I find them pretty useful in web development. These tiny little characters of text are an easy way to get rid of most spam on online forms, until recently since ai is getting smart there are some programs that can also work them out.

Now for every programmer that out smarts someone there is also someone one step ahead. Thats where Google’s new reCAPTCHA comes in. You may or may not have seen these around, these are easier on us humans and hard on bots. Instead of trying to work out what text is in an image it simply has a check box asking if you're not a robot. This simply allows the user to select that they are not a robot instead of having to type all those characters out.

New reCAPTCHA

This nifty little no CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA is an easy way to make sure that only humans are filling in your forms, however there is a fail safe if Google still is unsure it will ask you to input a CAPTACH (So yes they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon) and by making these mobile friendly by asking you to identify images that match instead.

So what do you think about the new noCAPTCHA reCAPTCHA?
